Media Pressure vs Self Esteem
In our office we have a diverse blend of women working here. The best attributes they each have is being strong, independent women with good self esteem. In one of our staff meetings the subject of tattoos came up and of course when tattoos are mentioned Kat von D's name always follows. There was an episode recently aired on TLC of the reality series about Kat and her LA based tattoo shop(which happens to be right down the street). In this episode Kat notices that she's lost a bit of weight and in that some of the tissue in her breast has also gone, bye-bye. Her good friend and shop manager Pixie encourages Kat to look into breast implants (yay Pixie, go team breast lol) but Kat has to think long and hard before making this commitment. Kat goes in for a consult and at the end of the show decides this isnt for her. A personal choice we can all accept. This is where media pressure abd self esteem come to a cross. America today still focuses on the bodily image(thus why I still have a job) but the point is that this is something each person does for themselves. Cosmetic surgery shouldnt be about pressure but about comfort with the body. Kat didn't need it but Pixie is team Breast and we can appreciate both those side because much like our staff these are strong, independent women with good self esteem.
